Yellowstone National Park, Another World...

There were so many things to see and do at Yellowstone National Park. The kids and the parents were amazed at the natural wonder and beauty that the park presented. We visited the popular area near the Old Faithful Geyser. Located in the State of Wyoming, off of US-191 S/ US-287 S, this part of Yellowstone is known for it's geothermal features and abundant wildlife. We took the photo below as the Geyser erupted.

Old Faithful erupts every 90 Minutes on Average

We arrived at Old Faithful right after it erupted, of course, so, we had to wait the 90 minutes or so for the next eruption. Since we had time we strolled over to the Old Faithful Inn and had some Ice Cream. The place was packed with visitors looking for souvenirs and getting refreshments.

After watching the geyser erupt, we headed for our Kampground of America (KOA) camping site in the heart of Yellowstone West. This KOA was the most expensive I have ever stayed at, the Price was $110 for one night. It's not like there are a bunch of options for a family of 5 in the Yellowstone area, however, we could have stayed at a less expensive camp site. The problem is, we like the KOA's and they have all of the amenities you can have when your camping (yes were spoiled!). As you can see in the photo below they even have a indoor swimming pool at the Yellowstone KOA.

Here's a short video of the Fountain Paint Pots at Yellowstone.

After leaving the hotel the next morning we went to a very active geothermal area of Yellowstone. When we arrived we found the "Fountain Paint Pots" shown below, both photos below are of the pots, but the lower picture gives you a good idea of the boiling action of the pots.

Here is one view of the Paint Pots

This gives you a better look at the "boiling action" of the Paint Pots.

Pictured below is one of the natural hot pools located in the same area as the Paint Pots, there are also a couple of geysers and other odd geothermal phenomena in the area.

You can smell the sulfur and feel the heat when you get close to this pool.
