Niagara Falls
Last summer, during our cross country trip, we headed west from Maine and visited Niagara Falls. We decided to cross into Canada for our trip, it was a fantastic view of the falls. Remember to bring a passport if you have one, and if you don't have a passport bring birth certificates and a good picture identification card with you. In addition, don't forget to bring your children's birth certificates with you.
When we went through, we didn't have the birth certificates or passports for the kids. We ended up being directed to customs and we had to go in and answer a bunch of questions.
Don't get me wrong, the custom's officials in Canada were very nice to us, and it was only a half-hour delay. Don't be surprised when they ask your kids questions like "Do you know this person?" (pointing to the parent) and "Who are they?". It's all part of their job, if your concerned about it, just stay on the United States side of Niagara Falls.

I took this picture right when we got there, I couldn't believe how close you could get to the falls.
It was an impressive site, coming from water starved Southern California, I couldn't believe the amount of water that was flowing from the falls. There was always a mist in the air from the water falls too, nice and cool. Be careful not to slip though as the pavement and cement are always moist.
Here's a picture looking down the walkway on the Canadian side, like any other tourist destination, expect the sidewalk and the gift shop to be crowded in the Summer. If your going to stay past sunset you will be able to see them light up Niagara Falls with the colorful lights pictured below.

We didn't sign up for any of the tours at Niagara Falls, they have a wide variety of activities at the falls on both sides of the border. They have Helicopter rides, Boat tours and other informational tours designed for family tourism.

Here is a picture of one of the Boat Tours available at Niagara Falls
I wish I would have stayed longer, but we needed to get rolling to our next destination in the United States. Ontario, Canada looked like it had a very lively night life with nice restaurants and clubs for those of you who like to party. I'm glad we took the time to go, it may be quite some time until we get to that part of the country again.
