In Search of Laura Ingalls WilderLast Summer our family left Southern California in search of Laura Ingalls Wilder, her history, and her legacy. My Wife and her Friends were big fans of Little House on the Prairie books and television as children and this was a dream come true for her. We visited the Birthplace of Laura Ingalls Wilder, Pepin Wisconsin, and we also traveled to Walnut Grove Minnesota to see the Laura Ingalls Wilder Pageant. While we were in Walnut Grove, we visited the "Banks of Plum Creek" . Although there wasn't much left of the old "dugout house" in Walnut Grove, we visited the "Big Rock" and other areas around the Creek.. Now that were back, we want to share the photos. Please use the links below if you are interested in information about Pepin, Wisconsin (birthplace of Laura), Walnut Grove (where she lived as a child) or De Smet, South Dakota where other books were written. It's fascinating history, and the times she described so vividly in her books really give you a sense of what it was like to be alive when times were hard and life was much different than it is today. Laura's books are fantastic reading for adults and Children.
