The Empire State Building
Our family had a great time visiting the Empire State Building. This is another "Major" attraction in New York City, Growing up in California, I had seen pictures of the Empire State Building when it was the Largest building in the world. Prior to the World Trade Center, the Empire State Building remained the tallest skyscraper in the world for over 40 years.
Now that the World Trade Center has been destroyed, the Empire State Building is again the tallest Skyscraper in New York City, and the Second tallest building in the United States (The Sears Tower is now the Tallest .)
It's an unusuall feeling being so high above New York City, staring down to the buildings below, it's an experience we will never forget, if you get the chance, wait in line it's really worth the memories. New York city has so much history that you couldn't possibly fit it all in without living there for a few years. Next trip back, I'm going to visit other legendary areas of the City.

This is the only up close photo I have of the Empire State Building, all the rest are pictures FROM the empire State Building.
The price for the tickets wasn't too bad, you may want to check for updated pricing on the official Empire State Building Website, but these are the figures I have for the Summer of 2007.
Adult (18-61) $18
Youth (12-17) $16
Senior (62+) $16
Child (6-11) $12
Toddler (5 or younger) free w/adult
Military W/ ID $16
Military in Uniform free
We waited in line for over an hour to get up to the observation tower, but I did read that you can buy an "Express Ticket" for an additional $30 that will get you to the top in 20 Minutes. I'm not in that much of a hurry! Especially with 7 in our group.
I took this Photo when we were standing in line on the Inside of the Empire State Building.
The view from the observation deck lived up to the billing, they also have snacks, souvenirs and drinks you can purchase while you Gaze down on New York City.
The fun think about taking photos at a place like this is wondering who the people are in the picture (By the way it's a little Windy up there.

This picture gives you a partial view of Central Park, I never realized how big it was.

A Hazy View of Manhattan, the views are spectacular.
The views are amazing from the observation deck, it get's a little crowded, but I think you can stay up there as long as you want so your bound to get some great pictures. If your wearing a hat be careful, I saw a lady almost loose hers when a strong gust of wind came up. Have Fun!
